Your Privacy Matters: Nexar’s Approach to the GDPR
At Nexar, data privacy, security, and transparency are all part of our company culture. That’s why we welcome the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which will come into effect on May 25th, 2018. The GDPR replaces the European Union’s Data Protection Directive and is a comprehensive approach to align data privacy laws across Europe and redefine data privacy.
So how are we strengthening our commitment to privacy and security for every person using Nexar? Check out the highlights:
We are enabling you to export all of the data you have uploaded (while we kept you safe on the road) from our servers. Simply stated, you own your data. This is called the Right to Data Portability by the GDPR. Check out how you can do that here.
We are enabling you to completely erase your data by deleting your account. This is called the Right to Be Forgotten by the GDPR. While we are always sad to see you leave, you have the right to completely erase your data by deleting your account if you no longer want to use Nexar. Find out more about how to do this here.
We have appointed a Chief Information Security Officer. His name is Tony, and his job is to regulate all security and privacy measures we have in place. Accountability is important and Tony leads this effort at Nexar. Check out his blog post about the technical aspects of data privacy.
We have updated our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. You know those really long, unclear agreements written in legalese that you were required to read and accept before using our app? We have updated this policy to be clear and straightforward and included what data we are collecting from you and for what purpose. Additionally, we have also updated our Terms of Service.
We are making it easy for you to update and correct inaccurate personal information. This verifies that your account profile is accurate and up to date.
We are providing a way to complain about issues regarding privacy. We want to hear your complaints and follow up on privacy concerns you may have. You can submit questions and comments about privacy via the Contact page on our website.
We feel a great responsibility in properly protecting and handling your personal information. We will continue to work hard to protect your privacy and to earn and maintain your trust in us, all while keeping you safe on the road. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via the Contact page on our website.
